French translation of a political essay by Zebedee Nungak

For decades, the Inuit of northern Québec have been among the most neglected people. It took the Battle of James Bay between 1971 and 1975 for the governments of Québec and Canada to wake up. In this concise and lively essay, Zebedee Nungak tells the story from the inside of the young Inuit and Cree who opposed the construction of the James Bay hydroelectric project. They fought in court and at the negotiating table for an agreement that became Canada's first land claims agreement. Nungak's essay is accompanied by his texts on the history of Nunavik. Together, they offer a fascinating glimpse of a virtually unknown chapter in the history of Québec and Canada.

First published in English in 2017 under the title Wrestling With Colonialism on Steroids: Quebec Inuit Fight for Their Homeland.
