Alootook Ipellie’s masterpiece, first published in 1993, Arctic Dreams and Nightmares, brings together 20 stories illustrated with original pen-and-ink drawings by the author, which draw on elements of Inuit mythology inspired by events and popular figures from Western culture. The book, which was considered controversial at the time by some traditionalist Inuit, has since become one of the pioneering works of Inuit literature.
